My workplace for this session happened to be Kentucky Lake, and I was not mad about it. :) Nathan has spent much of his life out on this water, and a good portion of that time has been spent on the boat with a fishing pole in his hand. His mom told me in between photos that he is on the fishing team at school and has competed in various tournaments, but I have a feeling he’d be out there constantly even if there was no trophy to be won. It made perfect sense to do Nathan’s senior session at this place that is so special to him, and you could tell he was completely in his element.
I was pregnant with my own baby boy at the time of this session, so it was sweet for me to see the connection Nathan had with his parents. They just seemed to have a great time being around each other, which isn’t always typical of a teenager. ;) I asked Nathan’s mom what advice she would give me as a soon-to-be boy mom, and she told me how they placed a big value on being open and honest with their son, even when they make mistakes. They try to demonstrate how they move forward even through failures. I thought that was such great advice, and I hope we can put that to practice in our own parenting journey!
Congratulations on your graduation, Nathan! Thank you for letting me be your senior photographer!
