Where are you located?
We have recently relocated to North Carolina, a little outside of Charlotte (Statesville, to be exact!)
How far in advance do we need to book a session with you?
This really depends on the time of year, as some months are busier than others. October through December is my busiest season and I typically book up for that complete timeframe by September. For other seasons, I recommend getting in touch with me at least a month out so we can work through wardrobe suggestions and get locations nailed down. If you need a weekend session, two months in advance is a safer bet. Of course, the further out you call, the better your chances are to get the date you'd prefer. :) It never hurts to ask though, even if you are reaching out last-minute!
How far in advance do we need to book our wedding with you?
I only take on a limited number of weddings per year so I can provide the best service to each couple I serve. I typically book weddings about 6-12 months in advance, but certain seasons are not as busy as others, so I can sometimes get couples in in less time than that. I would love for you to reach out though, no matter how far in advance your wedding is! If I cannot get you in, I would be happy to send you a referral list of other photographers in the area.
Do you offer the digital images from the session/wedding?
My most popular wedding package includes a thumb drive of digital images from your day + a print release so you can print them as you wish! For my portrait sessions, I have different packages you can choose from, and all include some digital images.
Do you offer prints and products, or just digital images?
I love offering physical products to my clients to display around their home! From fine art canvases to custom designed albums, to photobooks and prints for frames, I've chosen timeless and archival-quality products that you'll want to keep around forever.
Do you offer mini sessions?
Once a year in October we host a weekend of mini sessions! These fill up quickly, so be sure to follow my social media pages for the announcement when we start booking (usually in August.)
What is your favorite coffee drink?
I can always go for a really legit, hipster-made latte or macchiato, but if I am at a less stingy coffee shop, I'll be happy with a caramel macchiato or an iced vanilla latte. :)
We are super awkward in front of the camera... Will you tell us what to do?
Only like .000978% of my clients are actual models (this statistic may or may not have been completely made up on the spot, but I'd say it's pretty accurate). The rest are mostly average people who feel nervous because they don't want to look as awkward as they feel when someone points a camera at them. But rest assured, I will pose and direct you as needed, so you don't have to know anything about where to put your hands or how to smile or anything like that before you arrive at your session. If I am silent for any matter of time while I am snapping, it is because you are doing exactly what I want you to be doing and no guidance is needed. :)
What do we wear to our photo session?
I've got a whole blog post about that very topic-- you can find it here!
Can you edit out acne/make me 20 pounds lighter?
My philosophy while retouching portraits is to take out anything that isn't permanent. Acne, bruises, drool, or gooey things that come from noses are all temporary things that I will automatically take out. Things like scars or "angel kisses" or birthmarks I generally leave unless asked to take out. As far as body shaping goes, I try my best to direct my clients into poses that will compliment their body type so body shaping in Photoshop isn't needed.
