Jonathan, Class of 2021

I loved working with Jonathan for his senior portraits! You could tell these pictures were really special to him and his family. Some of my senior guy clients couldn’t care less to have this time in their life recorded, so they pretty much just do it for their momma’s (which is still okay!) but it does make it more fun for me to work with those who are more excited about their sessions. :) We started off taking pictures with his jeep to kind of mimic one of his dad’s senior portraits with his car back in the day, and ended by taking pictures with the John Deere tractor that had belonged to his grandad, who passed away a few years ago. It was such a sweet way to honor both of these men who are so special to Jonathan, and I was grateful I was able to capture these pictures for him and his family. Maybe he’ll have a son someday who will want to recreate one of these pictures, too. :)

Leah, Senior Class of 2021

I worked with Leah’s older sister for her senior pictures a few years back, and was so happy to work with this family again for another session! Leah is precious, and I had a wonderful time working with her. We did the first half of her session at Discovery Park of America, then went to a more rustic location complete with an antique white barn for the rest. I can always tell when senior season starts because I spend a little bit longer than normal on the first few senior portrait sessions— I get so used to working with little kids or weddings, both of which are a bit unpredictable and usually a little hurried. When I get to work with a senior who follows direction well and has a larger attention span, I kind of get lost in time and before I know it two hours have past and it’s time to wrap things up! Thankfully Leah stuck with me even though her stomach was probably growling by the end. ;)

Grant, College Senior Class of 2020

Grant has worked and studied hard over the past few years at Murray State University, and graduated with honors from there this Spring. It was an incredible achievement and his family is so proud of him! They were a bit disappointed when they got the news that Grant would not be able to have a graduation ceremony as planned, due to Covid-19, but his momma wasn’t going to let that mean no celebration. She set up this photo session on Grant’s college campus, and we were able to get pictures of him with the beautiful scenery and historic buildings as well as in the newsroom, where his work was edited and published in the school paper. And of course, we got some photos of him in his cap and gown. :) I’m glad that even though this time didn’t look quite like it was planned for Grant and his peers, we were able to make it a little more special for him!
