I worked with this sweet family a few years ago when I took Jackson's senior pictures, and now it is Emma's turn to be a senior so another session was due! It was such a joy to work with her again. We had a small window of time to take these, and it unfortunately rained out our first attempt, so we got up early one Sunday morning and took these before church. It was the perfect sunny morning though, and we even had a wonderful cool breeze that made this summer session much more enjoyable. :) We started in downtown Martin, which was great for her Westview basketball pictures, and ended at a more natural location where we snuck in a few photos of the whole family.
Thanks for coming back to see me, Kelly family! And congratulations on your upcoming graduation Emma. I wish you all the best!
Laurel, Senior Class of 2017
I did Laurel's older sister's senior pictures about four years ago (crazy!) but this year was Laurel's turn! She actually graduated in May, but between college applications and all the busyness that comes with senior year, decided to wait until this summer to have her senior pictures taken. :) And she didn't want to come all by herself-- she brought a few of the people she loves most to have pictures with as well! It was such a joy to work with this sweet family a second time, and I'm so glad both Laurel and her big sister Olivia are doing great.
Congratulations Laurel! Best wishes to you as you start this next chapter!
Joel, Senior Class of 2017
One thing I love about Senior sessions is that this we don't have to stick with just traditional portraits. Of course, I do take a few "stand here and smile" shots, but a lot of times I try to infuse the teen's passions and personality into the pictures as well. This is all about them and this specific time in their life, and I love to tell a bit of that story.
When I first met Joel for his senior session, I asked what he would like to incorporate into the pictures. He told me a few things: His truck, his bow, his gun, and his decoys. :) It is all about hunting with this one! After working with him just a little bit though, I could see that this is definitely "Joel". As soon as we got past the traditional shots and began taking some with his truck and hunting equipment, he seemed much more at home, and even came up with his own ideas for pictures. It became a team effort between him, his parents, and me to find the right areas around the pond, the poses that would be natural for the scene, and what looks best for the props we were integrating.
I think the images turned out great, and best of all, I think Joel is happy with them!
