Maternity

Coates Family + Maternity

I’ve been working with this sweet family since Beth Ann and Logan’s engagement session several years ago, and it has been such a joy seeing their family grow from just the two of them, to welcoming little Olivia, and now to welcoming baby Parker. We thought we’d get one last session in before he made his appearance, to capture that cute baby bump and get a few more pictures of this family of three before they became a family of four! Olivia loved getting some extra cuddles with her mom and dad, and had fun smelling the flowers and exploring this new place. She had no idea how much her world was about to change, but (spoiler alert) she has become such a great big sister since baby Parker was born. She is so in love with him!

Elizabeth + Dustin, Maternity Session

When you have a maternity session scheduled for July, you beat the heat by scheduling either right around sunset, or right around sunrise. Dustin and Elizabeth said they were morning people, so we got up bright and early and met before most of the town was awake that Saturday. The sunrise did not disappoint, with its soft tones of oranges and reds, and the air was nice and crisp. We had beautiful lighting for their pictures, as they cuddled together and looked down at this little baby bump. They could only dream about what life would be like once their baby boy or girl was here (they left the gender a surprise for when baby arrived) but now they have welcomed their sweet little one and she (it’s a girl!) is already being very spoiled, I’m sure. :) I get to meet her this week for the newborn session and I can’t wait!
Congratulations, Dustin & Elizabeth! Thank you for letting me be a part of such an exciting time in your lives!

Destiny, Snow Maternity Session

It doesn't snow often in this part of Tennessee-- maybe two or three times a year-- and we all have mixed feelings about it. :) This January though, when the snow fell and our little town looked like a snow globe that had been shaken and set down again, I loved it. We made hot chocolate, stayed in sweatpants all day, and watched the snowflakes swirl outside.
I had recently ordered an ivory maternity dress to go in my little collection for pregnant mommas to wear for photoshoots, and it arrived the same morning we woke up to a snow-covered yard. The thought kept coming to my mind of how beautiful it would be to do a maternity session in the snow in this dress, and I had a lovely client in mind who would have the perfect little baby bump at that time. So finally, that evening or maybe the day after, I messaged Destiny and asked her if she would be interested in taking a few maternity pictures in the snow. And I was excited when she wrote back, "Yes!"
We didn't spend long out in the snow for this session because I knew it would be cold and a bit uncomfortable for a pregnant momma, so we took maybe 30 minutes for these pictures. But this photoshoot that came together almost magically was accomplished and I was so glad I listened to that voice of inspiration. The pictures turned out exactly as I had imagined!
Thank you, Destiny, for dressing up and letting me take these pictures of you. And thanks to her husband for making sure she didn't fall while walking on the snow! :)
