Seniors

Sophie, Senior Class of 2020

I took senior portraits for her older sister a few years back, but this year it is Sophie’s turn to be a high school graduate! It was a hot, hot day when we did this session, but Sophie was such a good sport about it and stuck with me through the Tennessee summer heat. We met downtown Martin to take a few photos around the same area we did her older sister’s session, and then we headed to a more natural location to give her some pictures in a new area as well— something a bit more “her”. Their family has a bit of farmland, so she is right at home with her bare feet on the grass and with the trees and fields around her. It may not have been the most comfortable weather, but I’m so glad I was able to work with this sweet family for another senior session and capture more memories for their mom’s walls.

Congratulations on your upcoming graduation Sophie! I know you’ll go far in whatever you decide to do!

Kara, Senior Class of 2020

When I was in high school I had several friends who loved acting in this theatre, and they put in many hours of practice on this stage. I never liked being in the spotlight, so I was usually just found in the audience cheering them on. :) But I know from my friends’ experiences that this space holds a special place in the hearts of those who have put in the work here, and it was no different for Kara. She has been a part of several productions at the Capitol Theatre, so when we discussed what locations she would like to use for her senior session, this was top of her list.

We had a lovely day for her senior portraits, with blue skies and lots of sunshine. Because it was top of Kara’s list, we started at the theatre first and were able to take some pictures on and off the stage, as well as outside the theatre. Once we got what we needed there, we walked around downtown Union City for a few photos with the brick and concrete backgrounds, before heading to a more natural location. I love that we were able to achieve a variety of looks for Kara, and that we were able to incorporate both sentimental places and things as well as more simple locations that made her the focus. :) Such a fun session to be a part of, and such a sweet, beautiful young lady to work with!

Congratulations on your upcoming graduation Kara!

Sarah, Senior Class of 2020

I’ve known this family for several years, as I used to be in the same church youth group as Sarah’s older brother (though I was a bit older than he was) and his mom would volunteer as a chaperone for different youth trips we went on. So it makes me feel super old that Sarah is a high school senior now and is talking about colleges, and debating between moving away or staying close to home— she’s definitely grown up over the past ten+ years since my youth trip days! And she has grown to be a beautiful young lady, inside and out. She has the sweetest personality and is already wise beyond her years. I know she is going to do great things, no matter where she ends up!
We started this session downtown Union City, and ended with pictures around her backyard and the farmland next door. I loved the pictures we took in town but I could tell Sarah was much more in her element when we went back to her home. :) She just seemed a bit more comfortable with the grass under her feet instead of the pavement, though I think we all could have lived without the heat and the mosquitos, ha!

Congratulations on your upcoming graduation Sarah! It was great to see you all again!
